Peace is a Woman in a House (2015)

Composition for 8 female vocalist-improvisers, Chinese calligrapher and violin exploring the Chinese character for peace, 安, a roof over a woman. Based on community interviews from the Water Graffiti for Peace public art project. Commissioned, performed and collaboratively-staged by the Lorelei Ensemble, directed by Beth Willer, with Chinese calligrapher Mike Mei.

Water Graffiti for Peace (2014)  

Public art project engaging passersby in Chinese calligraphy and conversations about peace Over 500 people participated in 7 public sessions between August and September in Boston Chinatown and Downtown Boston. Collaboration with Chinese calligrapher Mike Mei, the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, and five Boston teen artist-researchers.

Collaboration across 2nd, 3rd and 4th dimensions with Rodney Veal, choreographer, Katherine Mann, visual artist.

Soldiers' Tales Untold (2010)

Original musical-narrative production interweaving veterans' stories, live music, and audience discussion about war and PTSD.

Arise for 18 String Players (2013)

Site-specific, birdsong-based composition for 18 solo string players and the Calderwood Hall at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston, MA. Commissioned and premiered by A Far Cry on April 4, 2013. 

 

Sunbar (2015)

Public art project exploring ways to stay warm and connected during cold Boston winters through bus shelter interventions with interactive live music and free drinks. In collaboration with Cornell Coley, percussion; Aziza Robison-Goodnight, host artist; John Turner, bass; and 10 teen artist-researchers from the Urbano Project.

an exploration of birdsong, sunrises and creativity, 2010-2014

 

Translations (2011)

Site-specific, birdsong-based outdoor performance for cast of 20 musicians and dancers encompassing square-mile of park over varied terrain, using music derived from the local birds. In collaboration with choreographer Rodney Veal. Aullwood Garden MetroPark, Englewood, OH, July 2011
