My Work

Music is the foundation of my practice - used as a tool for listening, dialogue, and community-building. Each project is developed collaboratively, ensuring experiences are grounded, responsive, and meaningful.

  • Programs interweave storytelling and audience engagement for all ages (adult-specific programming also available). Instruments include violin, Chinese erhu, voice and singing bowls.

    • Solo live performances drawing from classical music, traditional Chinese music and/or my original compositions

      • A Bird a Day original music violin, voice and looping pedal inspired by birds

      • Music of Transformation Bach Chaconne and original music

    • Performances for community-building, healing spaces, multigenerational exchange, and education

    • Chinese culture-sharing programs (available as bilingual English/Mandarin programs)

      • Lunar New Year celebration concert

      • The Middle Kingdom: exploring China through music and story

    •  Improvised Music performances

      • Solo Improvisations

      • Duo with jazz pianist Brian Friedland

    • Signature Cross-Cultural Collaborations include:

      • Duo with Shaho Andalibi, Persian ney

      • Sonic Joy: duo collaboration with Malian virtuoso Balla Kouyate, balafon

      • Soul Yatra Trio: collaboration with master musicians Sandeep Das, tabla, and Mike Block, cello

  • Lead and collaboratively design arts-based community-building projects using project-specific artistic practices, disciplines, and partners
